Race Detail and description 

7 Edition will be held on 14 September 2025.

Wolf Trail Running consists of three races a Half Marathon, 10K and 5K race through the spectacular trails of Voskopoja. Kid Race included.

This is a trail race that contains a good amount of physical challenge with elevation gains at 1030 m for Half Marathon, 380m for 10K, and below 210 m for 5K runners. It is recommended that runners train for these elevation gains in the weeks leading up to the race.

The Event

Two day event

On Saturday 16 of September 2023 will start the check in and final deliveries to the runners. In the afternoon it will be held the opening conference accompanied by DJ music, pasta festival and warm drinks tipicall for the region. Pasta festival will be held at Hotel Akademia Voskopoje 20:00.

On Sunday the start of the race. Dj Music and local product expo during all the activity.

At the end special prizes will be given for the first three winner.

The race starts in the center of Voskopoja, at the altitude of 1195m.The start of the race is near Voskopoja’s arch at the entrance of the village. We follow the cobblestone street on the stright of the arch. On both sides are located characteristic houses of Voskopoja.

About 300m away we get to the Berat bridge. In our right is one of the most famous water fountains  of Voskopja, called “Pashuta”. Here we start getting uphill on what is called the Berat road or the old caravan route linking Voskopoja to Berati.

Unless we reach the 1^st km in front of us, at the right is located the church of St. Ilia, magnificent with its mantle. At this stage we get to the left road and begin climbing uphill. It is a strong climb up to 3 km where we reach the 1413m altitude. Here we go along the old ski slopes where the national ski championship was organized. From here you can enjoy the wonderful view of Ostrovice Mountain. The road is rocky  in some places.

Then it starts downhill and in our right will encounter drining water spring (it’s the 3rd km, and water will be served with plastic cups). Descending, the path will lead us to a small river path. In this place for about 500m we will pass on a difficult terrain, where maximum attention is required from the runners. Then we will have a short uphill followed by a sloppy path. The trail is in a mountainous area with pines that can make the terrain slippery.

From km 5 to km of 7 the path will wider passing through a forest. This road will take us to one of the churches of the area known as the Church of St. Constantine. Here you will be served water (cups) and food (bananas and dried fruits) and will be distributed water bottles for all runners. For the another 1.5km the trail will be narrowed by going to a very dense area, but also very beautiful. Then for about 1 km we will go to the other side of Voskopoja and we will walk in parallel with the Voskopoja River to the crossroads of Shipsk Bridge.After crossing the bridge, we will take you to the left by following the old caravan route which leads  to the picturesque village of Shipska. From here up to km 12 we have a steep slope with a height of up to 200m in the village of Shipske. During the road we will have the opportunity to see, on our left side the magnificent view of Voskopja village.  In km 12 will be served water from the famous fountains of Shipkse village, as well as dried fruit and bananas. Thereafter the passage passes into one of the oldest churches of the area known as “Saint George followed by a strong descent to the river of Shipska. There we will pass the old bridge with stones and arches After that we will take uphill for about 1km along the meadows of Shipska, until we get to the old road that will lead us towards the old monastery of Saint Johan Forerunner.   Here the road is wide, under a pine forest with slight altitude changes. In the 15th km we will pass to the monastery of Saint Prodhromi (Forerunner).  Then we will pass through asphalt road linking the monastery with the village of Voskopoja and we will cross above on of the most  From 18 km to the next we will continue running through Voskopoja’s cobbled streets, where we will cross the route by leaving the center for the churches of Shen Mehill and Shen Nikola heading to the center again.

The race starts in the center of Voskopoja, at the altitude of 1195m.The start of the race is near Voskopoja’s arch at the entrance of the village. We follow the cobblestone street straight and after 50 meter we turn on the right. On both sides are located characteristic houses of Voskopoja.

About 200 m away we see on our left one of the most beautiful churches of Voskopoja – Saint Maria. We keep forward descending toward Saint Prodhromi cobblestone bridge. At that point we turn left and follow the road which lead us toward the Shipska Village. We follow this picturesque road and on our right we see Voskopoja river.

We follow this road up to the 3rd km until we see Shipska Brigdge. In this point after we pass the bridge we pass on the left toward the old caravan path leading us toward Shipska. After crossing the bridge, we will encounter Half Marathon route which will follow us up to the finish.

The route will take you to the left by following the old caravan route which leads  to the picturesque village of Shipska.
